Trenton Exchange Club volunteers Kay Sidebottom (left), Ray Phillips and Ira Newbauer will once again dig in for the annual Great Pumpkin Festival, which organizers hope will result in yet another record-setting “tower of pumpkins.” Families, churches, scout troops, classes and clubs are invited to dig in at one of two carving sessions: from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, both at Westfield Centter, 2700 Westfield Road. The official tower will then move to Trenton Cultural Center for the Community Nite Lite beginning at 7 p.m. For every pumpkin, DTE Energy will donate $1 to benefit “First Step,” a non-profit agency assisting women and children victimized by domestic abuse. The event is sponsored by the Trenton Firefighters Charities, Trenton Exchange Club and Trenton Senior Citizens. For more information call Trenton Parks and Recreation at 734-675-7300.
