LINCOLN PARK — Residents now have a permanent, safe way to dispose of outdated prescription drugs because of the Lincoln Park Substance Abuse Task Force and Lincoln Park Rotary Club.
According to a statement from the Police Department, a permanent prescription drug take-back box was placed at the station Friday, and will be available daily in the lobby. Residents with prescription medication that has expired or is no longer needed may bring the medication in for safe disposal, rather than risk contaminating local water supplies.
The organization, according to SImone Calvas, was grateful for the city’s cooperation and support of the effort, “towards a safe and drug-free community.”
The box was opened at the station during a ceremony Friday. For more information contact 313-381-1800.
