SOUTHGATE — Few things will change at city hall following Tuesday’s election, and the only question is how many newcomers will join the panel of city council.
The city’s three top positions are being sought without opposition: Mayor Joseph Kuspa —first elected in 2009 — and Treasurer Jim Dallos are running unopposed. Councilwoman Jan Ferencz is term limited from continuing on the panel, and is running unopposed for the clerk’s position, which was vacated earlier this year with the retirement of Thomas Alexander.
Term limits also prevent Councilmen Phillip Rauch and Christopher Rollet from running, and the seven elected panelists will be chosen from 10 candidates. Incumbents Bill Colovos, Patricia Ganzberger, Karen George and Dale Zemecki are seeking re-election alongside challengers Ernest Abercrombie, Sheryl Denham, Gerald Dusik, Mark Farrah, Eddward Gawlick Jr., John Graziani, Altinia Kandrevas, and Dino Papadopoulos.
City council seats are two-year terms and members are eligible to serve four terms of office.
