HEIGHTS — Police are looking to press charges against a driver following an investigation into a hit and run collision that left an Inkster man with life-threatening injuries last month.
Police Cpl. Leonard Stewart said “charges are pending against a known suspect” who was driving the vehicle and that the Police Department has been in contact with the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office and is waiting for its decision on issuing a warrant.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Ford Road and John Daly between 6:45 and 6:55 p.m. Dec. 28.
Witnesses told police they observed a red- or rust-colored Ford Mustang with four occupants collide with the man and then drive away.
The victim was taken to an area hospital and admitted for life-threatening injuries and is currently in stable condition.
The suspect vehicle, which was described by witnesses as having old damage to its body on both the passenger and rear sides and also was believed to have sustained a damaged windshield in the collision, has not been recovered.
Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call the Police Department at 313-277-6770 or Stewart at 313-791-9808.
