Kimberly Collins (lower right) gets a sloppy “thank you” from Wheezy, a mixed-breed shepherd awaiting adoption at the Taylor Animal Shelter. Kimberly and her sister, Kristina and friend Brook Sindone recently raised more than $1,100 for Pound Pals-Downriver for use at the Animal Shelter, which also benefitted from recent donations by Home Depot and local volunteers who provided upgrades to the facility. The three young Taylor women solicited donations from Watson Engineering, Belle Tire, Joe’s Carpet Service, Hooters, Buffalo Wild Wings (Southgate), Cali Sun Hair and Tanning (Dearborn Heights and Taylor), the Wyandotte Group and Skore Lanes. Kimberly, a Kennedy High School graduate, wants to be a veterinary technologist and thought the fundraising project could benefit both the community and animals in need of adoption. Volunteers and shelter crew who were on hand for the check presentation included Shawn Donovan (clockwise from lower left), Diane Serosiers, Nickole O’Neill, Lanny Hall and Crystal Gonzales.
