DEARBORN — Howe-Peterson Funeral Home & Cremation Services has been honored to serve the Dearborn and surrounding communities since 1873. We are the oldest business in Dearborn.
Over the years we have grown through many changes within our profession and community. One of the changes is the shift towards cremation. We have found that often our families are not aware of the many options they have when choosing cremation.
Many families choose to have their loved one present for a memorial gathering and ceremony, after which the cremation takes place. This provides the opportunity for family and friends to see their loved one and say good-bye.
Some families prefer to have the cremation take place and then have the gathering and ceremony conducted without their loved one present.
Others will choose to have the cremation without a gathering or ceremony.
At Howe-Peterson even if you choose to not have your loved one present or choose to not have a gathering, we will perform our Signature Care which includes bathing, shampooing of hair, shaving and dressing your loved one in clothing you provide. You will have the chance to have some quiet time with your loved one.
Once the cremation is complete the cremated remains will be presented to you in a candle lit chapel and you will be given a moment to reflect.
Whether you choose cremation or burial, what is most important is helping family and friends begin the healing process of mourning after the death of someone they love.
