RIVERVIEW — A 57-year-old Grosse Ile woman could face up to a five years in jail after she allegedly hit a man refueling his car on Sibley Road Jan. 15.
Beth Lynn Hanna was officially charged in 27th District Court Jan. 17 with operating under the influence or while impaired by liquor causing serious injury. She pled not guilty and Judge Randy Kalmbach set her bond at $50,000 or 10 percent cash. A court document said she posted the $5,000 bond the next day.
Published reports state the incident occurred about 9:30 p.m., and police confirmed the incident. Those reports said the man was taken to Southshore Medical Center in Trenton, but he was transferred to Detroit Receiving Hospital because of the extent of his injuries.
Police said the woman was traveling east on Sibley Road when she hit the man. More specific details of the accident and the victim’s name were not been released by press time, but police confirmed the man was refueling his vehicle at the side of the road when the woman hit him.
A preliminary examination of the evidence Hanna is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday. A court document said she is to submit to daily preliminary breath tests and cannot purchase, possess or consume alcohol or controlled substances while released on bond.
