Secondary Choir to perform at The Max

DEARBORN — The Dearborn Secondary Honors Choir will be perform at 7:15 p.m. Thursday at the Max M. Fisher Music Center, 3711 Woodward Ave., Detroit.

The choir, made up of 38 students from Bryant, O.L. Smith, Stout and Lowrey middle schools; Dearborn High School and home schooled students will perform Gywenth Walker’s “Blessings from the Children” with the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra and the Detroit Children’s Choir.

The group was asked to take part by Charles Burke, the director of the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra, as a result of the choir’s performances with them on the “Nutcracker Ballet.” 

The selections also will include Scott McAllister’s music from “Redneck Songbook II,” Eric Whitacre’s “Godzilla Eats Las Vegas!” and Glinka’s “Overture to Russian and Ludmilla.

The Secondary Honors Choir is open to all secondary students who are recommended by their school music teacher.
