Dearborn man charged in stabbing, carjacking

DEARBORN — A Dearborn man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a stabbing and carjacking Monday after a reported drug deal turned violent.

Shaker Hassoon, 24, was arraigned was charged in 19th District Court with carjacking, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, and assault with a dangerous weapon. Bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety.

A preliminary examination of the evidence against him is scheduled for 9 a.m. March 21 in 19th District Court.

Police responded about 9:35 a.m. Monday to the 600 block of South Brady on a report of a stabbing and carjacking. Officers spoke with a 19-year-old Detroit man who said he and Hassoon agreed to meet to conduct a narcotics transaction.

The victim said that after completing the transaction, Hassoon opened the victim’s vehicle door and began stabbing him with a knife. The victim said he fell from the vehicle and Hassoon jumped inside and fled.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for multiple puncture wounds and lacerations, and released.

After further investigation, police arrested Hassoon about 3 p.m Tuesday.
