DEARBORN — A Detroit man arrested for multiple home invasions in Dearborn is heading to trial in the Wayne County Circuit Court.

Rashaad Taylor, 21, appeared Friday in front of 19th District Court Judge Mark Somers and waived his right to a preliminary examination of the evidence against him.

Taylor is charged with home invasion first degree, two counts of home invasion second degree, felony larceny of a firearm and felony firearm.

He is free on a $10,000 bond with a GPS tether and will appear in the Wayne County Circuit Court for an arraignment at 9 a.m. April 4.

Taylor was arrested by the Dearborn Police Special Operations Unit following an investigation into multiple home invasions that began March 3.

The first invasion occurred in the 1600 block of Linden Street at 8:45 a.m. The homeowner notified police that he had just discovered a break-in at the residence and that a flat screen television, computer tablet missing and several pieces of costume jewelry had been stolen.

A neighbor of the victim told police that he had observed a white Chevrolet Impala being driven by a single black male parked in the driveway of the victim’s home earlier that morning.

On March 7, two additional home invasions were reported on Snow Street. In those incidents, jewelry, a computer and a handgun were taken from the victims.

Police began an investigation into the movement of the stolen property and received information from local businesses that led them to begin surveillance on Taylor.

Taylor was observed by police with a computer matching the description and later confirmed to be the one taken from one of the residences on Snow Street and was arrested without incident.

Officers were also able to recover the stolen handgun and computer from Taylor.

Following the arrest, Police Chief Ronald Haddad commended the community for speaking up and identifying Taylor as the suspect, stating that their tips helped get a dangerous criminal off the streets.
