The Dearborn Police Department will participate once again in the Hiring Our Heroes Job Fair, recruiting veterans and their spouses to apply.
Event to showcase employment opportunities for area veterans
DEARBORN – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s job fair for veterans and their spouses will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 23 at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave.
The event is part of the U.S. Chamber’s Hiring Our Heroes initiative. The job fairs are open to all U.S. active duty service members, Guard and reserve components, veterans, and spouses of any of these groups.
Job seekers are encouraged to register at hiringourheroes.org/dearborn prior to the event. Registration will also be available on the day of the event; veterans and service members must provide proof of service at the registration table.
The event is at capacity for employer registration, but interested employers can sign up at hiringourheroes.org/dearborn to be added to the hiring fair’s waiting list.
The city is a sponsor of the free event, as is the Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce and many other partners throughout the region and state.
Hiring Our Heroes launched in March 2011 as a nationwide initiative to help veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses find meaningful employment. To date, more than 1,500 companies have hired 21,600 veterans and military spouses as a result of more than 700 hiring fairs.
The event will feature an employment workshop beginning at 8:30 a.m. Classroom and mentoring sessions will focus on resume building, resume writing and interviewing techniques.
A maximum of 50 participants will be accepted for this workshop, and candidates can register for this session at the Dearborn Hiring our Heroes website.
