DEARBORN — On the field or in the classroom, crosstown rivals Edsel Ford, Dearborn and Fordson are no strangers to fierce competition, but longtime rivals will stand together on Saturday when the three high schools host a 5K Unity Run.
The event is sponsored by the Anti-Bullying and Peer Mediation teams at the high schools. The event begins at 9 a.m. at Ford Field Park, 22051 Cherry Hill.
The theme of this year’s Unity Run is “Boot Camp.” Participants will have the option of running a traditional cross country course or challenging themselves by navigating a series of mini obstacles set up along the course.
The schedule is:
• 9 a.m. — 1 mile run (elementary age students)
• 9:30 a.m. —2 mile run (middle school age students)
• 10 a.m. — 1 mile walk (all are welcome)
• 11 a.m. — 5K run (adults)
• 11:30 a.m. — 5K run (high school age students)
This race is open to students, staff and family members of Dearborn Public Schools and community members interested in supporting the work of the students.
Cost fee is $15 for students, $20 for staff and adults, and $40 for teams of four (each person on a team must complete a registration form and submit together).
Proceeds will fund the annual Student Leadership Diversity Summit and a scholarship for a student involved in anti-bullying, mediation or social justice.
