DEARBORN — The annual Henry Ford Community College Spring Choral Concert will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church, 22124 Garrison.
Tickets for the concert are $10 for adults, and $7 for senior citizens and students with valid school photo identification, and will be available at the door.
Four of HFCC’s performing ensembles will appear on the concert – Concert Choir (mixed choir), Renaissance Voices (women’s ensemble), and vocal jazz ensembles Blue Fusion and Midnight Blue. The concert will be conducted by HFCC music instructor G. Kevin Dewey.
Featured selections include a choral medley from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The Phantom of the Opera”; “Suite de Lorca,” Einojuhani Rautavaara’s setting of texts by Spanish poet Federíco García Lorca; and “Polovtsian Dances” by Russian composer Alexander Borodin.
Also on the program are works by Beethoven and Holst, a Renaissance song, the traditional spiritual “Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel,” and vocal jazz arrangements by Gene Puerling, Phil Mattson and Michele Weir.
