ALLEN PARK – Hardcore Detroit Red Wings fans are suspected in the Jimmy Howard bobblehead theft from Campus Martius Park in Detroit. The stolen head was recovered Thursday morning in Allen Park.

Police chief James Wilkewitz said two suspects were arrested.

“We got a tip, the suspects admitted to it, and we went and got it,” he said of the stolen head of the Red Wings goalie.

“I’ve seen a lot of things,” Wilkewitz said. “This is the first stolen bobblehead case.”

According to published reports, the head was seen at a party in Allen Park then dumped near Millward Park.

The life-size bobblehead head, weighing about 12 pounds, has been returned to Fox Sports. The bobbleheads were designed for auctions for various Detroit charities.

Fox Sports had no comment on the matter.
