It was “play ball” time April 26 for the four Little League districts of Taylor as opening day was celebrated with a parade, ceremonies and a full days’ worth of games. Below, Opening remarks at the Taylor South game came courtesy of Orland King, a veteran umpire from Ohio who has visited the city every summer for more than 30 years to officiate at Junior League World Series contests. League president Doug Cloutier said during opening remarks that participation had been low in recent years, but the 2014 season easily filled the rosters.
