Man charged with sex assault of teen

May 25, 2014 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

TAYLOR — A 23-year-old Dearborn man faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted of criminal sexual conduct charges after allegedly having sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl.

Police and prosecutors said the assault took place in a mini-van at a shopping center parking lot.

Hassan Kamel Mougnieh was arraigned May 16 before 23rd District Court Judge William Sutherland on three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct — punishable by up to 15 years in prison — and two counts of fourth-degree CSC.

Prosecutors said police approached Mougnieh’s minivan about 10:50 p.m. May 14, in the parking lot of a shopping center at the intersection of Telegraph and Eureka. Mougnieh and a 14-year-old girl were inside the van where police said the assault took place.

According to court records, Mougnieh paid bond after the arraignment — 10 percent of $35,000 — and is prohibited from having any contact with the girl, use of drugs or alcohol or to have contact with any minor children without an adult present.

A preliminary examination of the evidence will be presented Wednesday in 23rd District Court.
