Children from ages of 3 and 15 are invited to take part in this free event.
The competition will be broken into four age categories: 3 to 5 years old, 6 to 8 years old, 9 to 11 years old, and 12 to 15 years old. Prizes will be awarded in each age category for both the most fish caught and the biggest fish caught.
Entrants must register upon arrival to compete in their age group. All fishermen are asked to bring their own rod, bucket and bait.
The first 100 children will receive a T-shirt.
The derby is sponsored primarily by Eppinger Manufacturing, the Dearborn Lions Club, Dearborn Police Charities, Dearborn Sausage Co., Eagle Claw and Times-Herald Newspapers.
This year’s supporting sponsors include Impressions Specialty Advertising, Plano Molding, Plastilite, and Uncle Ray’s Potato Chips.
Prizes are provided by Children’s Garden, Gander Mountain, Dearborn Federal Savings Bank, Dearborn Recreation & Parks Department/Camp Dearborn, Dearborn Rotary Foundation, In Stock Marketing, Jan Overhead Door, Les Stanford Chevrolet, Michigan Sports Person Heritage Conservancy, Norwick Orthodontics, Palace Food Mart, Remote Control Fishing Pole, Ricky’s Sub Shop, Sportsman’s Connection, Talmer Bank, The Fish Market and Yogurtopia.
Camp Dearborn is a family-oriented recreational facility, owned and operated by the city of Dearborn, and open to the public. It is at 1700 General Motors Road in Milford.
The gate fee of $5 per vehicle or a 2014 season sticker apply for this event.
