MELVINDALE — There are still fun summer things to do in the city, they just might not include the cool, wet kind.
A tight city budget offers no leniency to reopen the city pool at 3155 Oakwood Blvd.
The city would need to invest more than $8,000 to open the pool and another estimated $38,000 to maintain it during the summer.
Part of the cost results from a broken pipe endured over the winter, city officials said.
The lack of the pool shouldn’t hinder summer activities, Police Chief Chad Hayse said.
“There are still parks, baseball, a skate park, basketball courts,” he said. “There’s a whole lot of stuff for kids to do.”
