RIVERVIEW — Fire investigators still are questioning the cause of an early-morning fire on June 30 at Pennbrook Place Apartments.

“It is still under investigation,” said Clifford Rosebaum, chief of police and fire.

Rosebaum said the fire started in a second-story apartment and that apartment along with the one directly above it sustained heavy damages at 15027 Brookview Drive.

Rosebaum said there were no injuries to people or to animals and attributes part of that to the firefighters’ skills and technique.

Riverview firefighters were assisted by Trenton, Wyandotte and Brownstown firefighters.

It’s unknown how many of the residents from the 18 evacuated apartments were able to move back.
