DEARBORN — A 12-year-old Dearborn boy is hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle Thursday night.

The accident occurred about 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of Schaefer Road and Henson, just south of Warren Avenue.

According to police reports, the boy was riding across Schaefer when he was struck by a Chevrolet Malibu.

Following the crash, the child was transported to the Detroit Medical Center’s Children’s Hospital of Michigan where he was listed in critical condition.

Police Sgt. Stephen White said alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the collision.

The driver of the vehicle, who was not identified by police but is a Dearborn resident, was not injured in the crash.
