DEARBORN — Police are looking for help from the community in identifying a man accused of robbing a business in the 13000 block of Michigan Avenue Sept. 4.

According to a press release from the Police Department, officers responded to the business about 1:20 p.m. on a report of an armed robbery at the business.

Upon arrival the officers spoke to an employee, who said that while working at her desk a man entered the store through the rear alley door armed with a silver handgun and demanded she give him all the cash in the business.

After being told there was no cash the robber forced his way into a locked office and searched it before exiting through the rear door and fleeing on foot down the alley.

Police were able to obtain surveillance footage of the incident and described the robber as a black male, 30 to 35 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches tall with an athletic build and appears to have a colored “sleeve” tattoo on his left arm. He was wearing black jeans, a purple shirt and a black baseball hat with a logo on the front.

“We urge the public to assist us in identifying the suspect in this incident,” Police Chief Ronald Haddad said. “A partnership with our community is truly the most efficient way to achieve our law enforcement goals.”

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact the Police Department at 313-943-3012.
