DEARBORN — Students, athletes, and visitors attending sporting events at Edsel Ford High School are enjoying a new field house and concession area.
The field house is a one-story brick building that serves as a new and more efficient way for teams and spectators to enter the athletic track and field area, and bleacher seating. The heated facility includes a ticket booth, concession area with a prep kitchen, restrooms and team rooms for both home and away teams.
“Our students now have a field house that enhances the event experience for student athletes, coaches, spectators, and the parent volunteers who raise funds to support our athletic programs through the sale of concessions during the game,” Edsel Ford Principal Scott Casebolt said.
The field house also can be a safe haven for teams in the event of severe weather occurring during a game.
The new facility is one of the more visible projects completed this summer using money from the $76 million SMART bond approved by Dearborn Public Schools voters last November. This summer, the district spent about $13 million from the $76 million bond funds for construction work at a number of schools in the district.
