Window broken by BB gun
A resident called police after finding that a window at his mother’s house in the 3800 block of Mayfair was cracked from BB pellets just after 6 a.m. Sept. 10.
The man told police he was trying to sell the house and had not spent the night there but had been there the previous night until 9 p.m. Upon returning in the morning he discovered that an someone had struck the glass window surrounding a rear sun room with BB gun pellets.
Officers inspected and found several cracks in the window and two BB pellets still in the window frame. The window itself had not been penetrated.
No suspect information was available.
Bicycle stolen from porch
Police were called to investigate the theft of a bicycle from a front porch in the 21500 block of Snow at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 15.
The victim said that at some time between 10 p.m. the previous night and 7 a.m. someone took a silver 7-speed mountain bicycle from the front porch of the house. The bicycle was not locked or secured down.
The victim also said she found another bicycle laying on the sidewalk in front of the house that did not belong to her and she believed the person who stole her bicycle left it there. She added that she did not hear or see anything suspicious overnight.
Neighbors told police they did not hear or see anything suspicious overnight and they did not recognize the bicycle left behind.
Police confiscated the bicycle; no other evidence was found at the scene.
Dearborn Heights
Wheels taken from vehicle
A resident called police at 6:30 a.m. Sept. 18 to report that two wheels were stolen from his vehicle in the 6500 block of North Highland.
The victim said he had parked his 2014 Ford Taurus locked and secured in the driveway of the residence about 5:30 p.m. on the previous evening. When he exited the house in the morning he discovered the vehicle balanced on a landscaping stone with two wheels missing.
The man did not report hearing or seeing anything suspicious overnight and said the stone was unfamiliar to his property.
No suspect information was available.
Attempted home invasion
Police were dispatched just before 10 a.m. Sept. 17 to investigate an attempted home invasion at a house in the 5100 block of Southfield Road.
Officers arrived and spoke to the victim, who said she lived alone and heard a noise outside the house about 4:30 a.m., but didn’t think it was anything suspicious and didn’t investigate it.
Later in the morning she discovered two large sets of handprints on a front picture window and she told police that she now believed that the noise was someone trying to force the window open to gain entry into the house. She said the prints were not there the previous day.
The officers checked the property and observed the handprints on the window but found no other signs of forced entry.

Bikes stolen from unlocked garage
Two bicycles and assorted tools were reported stolen Monday night or early Tuesday morning from a garage in the 1400 block of Washington.
A man called police shortly after 5:30 a.m. Tuesday and said two BMX bicycles — DK and Baro — valued at more than $300 each, had been parked in the garage the night before. Early that morning he saw the garage side door open, which he had not locked. Also missing was a tool box with assorted tools valued at $75.
Police checked for evidence and noted the serial numbers and descriptions of the missing bicycles.
Southgate
Mountain bike stolen overnight
Police responded to the 12000 block of Rosedale to a man who said his $250 21-speed mountain bicycle had been taken from a locked garage.
The man said he’d secured the bike at 9 .m. Sept. 18, and the next morning discovered it missing.
Investigators noted pry marks surrounding a side, sliding door that had been secured, and that the lock had been punched by a tool of some kind.
Police checked the area for evidence, noted the serial number and description of the bicycle, and are investigating.

Valuable coins, jewelry taken by burglars
Rare and valuable coins worth an estimated $16,000 were taken during a residential break-in Sept. 19, in which one or more thieves also took off with an estimated $50,000 worth of jewelry.
Police responded to a 5:30 p.m. call from the 12000 block of Pardee, where a man said he’d left for work at 9 a.m. and returned to find both the front and rear doors of the home open. Both doors, the man said, had been locked and secured with a dead-bolt.
Investigators reported the likely point of entry was an unlocked kitchen window. Most rooms in the house had been ransacked, and missing valuables included two large flat-screen TVs and a 12-gauge shotgun.
Police checked the area for evidence and are investigating.
Trenton
Passed-out driver taken into custody
Police arrested a driver believed to have been under the influence of drugs after discovering the 21-year-old sitting unconscious in a parked, running vehicle.
Officers responded to the report at 2:40 a.m. Sept. 18, that a man was passed out in the driver’s seat of a Mazda parked in the 3800 block of Highview.
According to police reports, the man was slumped over the steering wheel, and the car’s lights and radio were both on when the patrol officer made contact.
After turning off the engine, the officer awoke the man, whose pupils were dilated. No smell of alcohol was present, but the driver said he had pulled over to text someone but couldn’t remember where he had been or where he had driven from.
The driver failed a series of field sobriety tests, and was taken first to the hospital for a blood draw and then to the station for processing. Charges are expected for driving under the influence of drugs, pending results of the blood screen.
