Dearborn woman wins Free Press marathon

DETROIT — Dearborn resident Courtney Brewis won the women’s division of the 2014 Detroit Free Press/Talmer Bank Marathon Oct. 19.

The 23-year-old finished with a time of 2 hours 45 minutes 52 seconds.

Brewis is no stranger when it comes to running. She is a former 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter competitor at Grand Valley State University.

The full marathon was a total of 26.2 miles from start to finish. The course started and finished in Detroit while crossing the border through Windsor in Canada.

The 37th annual marathon drew a record 27,389 runners overall.
