Taylor Mayor Rick Sollars (second from left) joined friends and partners of Volunteers of America including national President Mike King and Michigan President Alex Brodrick, Housing and Urban Development Field Office Director Mike Polsinelli and O’Brien Construction President Tim O’Brien for Wednesday’s ground-breaking ceremony at Heritage Park Senior Village. The 77-unit community for low- to moderate-income seniors will be funded by the federal Supportive Housing for the Elderly program as coordinated by Volunteers of America. Sollars said Heritage Park joins a “business renaissance” in the city’s south end, with nearby plans for a new Menard’s, a Cinemark NextGen theater complex and nearly a dozen other new businesses. Heritage Park is expected to welcome its first residents in fall 2015.
