Informal volunteer efforts to spruce up the city continued at Oak Grove Cemetery on Oct. 18 as more than 30 members and friends of the Women of the Moose Chapter 992, Lodge 887 spent the day cleaning the grounds. The club made good on its promise earlier this year when a planned cleanup day gave way to rain. Angel LaBarge coordinated the event on behalf of the Lodge, along with Taylor Clerk Cindy Bower and Councilman Charley Johnson. The volunteer spirit has resulted this year in similar days spent cleaning public areas by high school athletes, church groups, firefighters and others with projects that ranged from landscape overhauls to graffiti removal. Residents interested in organizing a cleanup are invited to contact the city at 734-374-1447.
