ALLEN PARK — The Michigan State Police investigation continues into the death of a 26-year-old Detroit man walking on I-94 Sunday night.

Torian L. Brinson was pronounced dead at the scene. His vehicle reportedly had a flat tire and was parked on the right shoulder of westbound I-94 near Oakwood Boulevard about 9 p.m. Investigators suspect Brinson was walking to get help when he was struck by another vehicle. He was attempting to cross the expressway when struck.

“We have no further information at this time,” Police Chief James Wilkewitz said Thursday.

Brinson was hit by a Dearborn Heights woman, 66, driving a Chevrolet HHR, police said. The woman was driving in the center lane when she reportedly struck Brinson.

“It doesn’t appear the driver is at fault,” Wilkewitz said.

The Downriver Crash Team is investigating the incident. Alcohol does not appear a factor in the fatal crash, according to the preliminary investigation.
