TAYLOR – Police continued investigating on Thursday the gunshot suicide by a 21-year-old Oklahoma man and to determine what if any connections he had in the city.
Police Chief Mary Sclabassi said Thursday the man had, “no known connections to Taylor,” and it was unknown what led him to a local shooting range.
Sclabassi confirmed that a suicide had taken place late Wednesday night at Top Gun Shooting Sports, 22050 Pennsylvania Road.
Sclabassi declined to provide additional information pending family notification, and an investigation continued.
“The man’s name is not being released as proper notifications have not been made yet,” Sclabassi said Thursday.
The incident marked the third self-inflicted gunshot death in recent years at the range, which also sells weapons.
A 51-year-old Dearborn Heights man paid for the rental of a .45-caliber handgun with which he took his own life in January 2013. In 2011 a U.S. Army veteran who’d been recently released from a post-traumatic stress treatment program rented a semi-automatic handgun with which she committed suicide.
