Public invited to Christmas tree-lighting ceremony, sing-along

The city of Dearborn’s Tree-lighting Ceremony and Sing-Along begins at 6 p.m. Dec. 8 with activities and entertainment lasting until 9:30 p.m.

DEARBORN – The city’s annual Christmas Tree-Lighting Ceremony and Sing-Along at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave., will be from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 8.

The free event will give guests an opportunity to enjoy live music, performances by local school choirs and bands, a Christmas sing-along and visit with Santa Claus.

The schedule of events on Dec. 8 is:

• 6 to 6:30 p.m. — Dearborn Big Band (Michael A. Guido Theater Lobby)

• 6:35 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. — Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony with Mayor John O’Reilly Jr. (outside, in the Theater Circular Drive)

Theater Program

• 6:55 p.m. — Performance by Dearborn High School Marching Band

• 7:15 p.m. — Holiday-themed performance featuring the Dearborn Public Schools Elementary and Middle School Honors Choirs

• 7:40 p.m. — Christmas Sing-Along with O’Reilly Jr.

• 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. — Visit with Santa Claus in Studio A, refreshments in the lobby

The Tree Lighting Ceremony is not being held during the Festival of Trees fundraiser for Children’s Hospital of Michigan.
