DEARBORN — Lavere Bryant was found guilty on Nov. 24 for the July 2013 double murder of Dearborn Family Dollar employees Joseph Orlando and Brenna Machus, as well as other charges.

The trial began Nov. 10 in Wayne County Circuit Court and ended with the jury verdict Monday. Sentencing is scheduled for Dec.11, where Bryant is expected to receive life without parole.

Bryant was a field employee and worked at other Family Dollar stores before he was in the spring of 2013.

Both victims, both 20, worked at the Family Dollar located at 22631 Newman in Dearborn. The store is now closed.

Orlando’s body was found in the restroom of the store and the body of Machus, an assistant manager, was found in a wooded area southeast of Michigan Avenue and the Southfield Freeway.

Bryant also was found guilty of armed robbery, unlawful imprisonment and possession by a felon of a firearm.
