TAYLOR — Police are investigating the circumstances behind a 73-year-old man being found dead in his front yard Tuesday.

Police Chief Mary Sclabassi said a meter reader discovered the man — unidentified as of Wednesday — in the front yard of his Inkster Road home north of Ecorse Road.

Sclabassi said the man’s cane was found nearby, and there was no evidence of foul play. The somewhat isolated nature of the man’s house — not easily seen from the street or sidewalk — indicated that he may have been there for some time before being discovered.

Police and the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office are working to locate the man’s relatives for proper identification. Pending a final autopsy the man reportedly died of natural causes.
