DEARBORN — A Detroit man suspected of beating a woman to death was shot and killed by Detroit police in a Dearborn dry cleaner on Nov. 28.
The man had been a suspect in beating a woman to death earlier in day. Detroit police were called to the 5600 block of Lawrence Street in Detroit about 1 p.m. where they discovered the body of the possible homicide victim.
Police were given the man’s name, a photo and an address where he might have been heading, according to the police report.
The man was found at Macy Cleaner, 5320 Schaefer Road in Dearborn, — where he was a former employee — just after 2 p.m.
Police identified the suspect with an employee at the cleaners using the photo. Once confronted by the officer inside the building, the man he pulled a gun out and the officer shot once, killing the suspect, according to reports.
Detroit police Sgt. Michael Woody told the Associated Press that the man was shot to death in the cleaners while struggling with an officer over a gun.
Dearborn police are handling the shooting investigation and Detroit police are handling the homicide investigation.
The names of the suspect and woman have not been released.
