Residents warned about phone scams

December 5, 2014 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

WYANDOTTE — Numerous residents and businesses are complaining that people claiming they are from Municipal Services or DTE Energy are calling them asking for immediate payment to prevent service interruption.

Officials from both Municipal Services and DTE said this is a scam. Municipal Services doesn’t contact customers by phone, they do it via mail.

DTE, however, does call customers regarding their bills, making it more difficult to determine a scammer from an agent.

If customers are in doubt about their bills, they should call the respective institution: Municipal Services at 734-324-7190 and DTE Energy at 800-477-4747.
