WYANDOTTE — Police suspect a 46-year-old Brownstown Township woman froze to death outside an apartment building in the 1400 block of Oak Street Saturday after knocking on a woman’s door asking for help and being refused.
Overnight temperatures fell to about zero degrees.
The same woman identified the victim’s body 12 hours later as Mary Cicotte-Hamilton. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The autopsy was delayed because the body is frozen.
Cicotte-Hamilton reportedly was intoxicated when she knocked on the woman’s door at 10:30 p.m. Friday. The woman told police Cicotte-Hamilton was slurring her words, and she told Cicotte-Hamilton to go home before closing the door.
Another woman found Cicotte-Hamilton at 10 a.m. the next day, lying on her side in the snow, fully clothed.
