TRENTON – A 65-year-old man was found dead by police Wednesday morning in his Daniel Drive home, the apparent victim of the city’s first homicide in nearly a decade.

Police and Fire Services Director James Nardone said police were called to the home about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, where they found a man identified as George Hite deceased.

“It appeared to be a homicide,” Nardone said. “Michigan State Police are assisting in the investigation.”

It was undetermined when the murder might have happened before police were summoned on a welfare check. Hite reportedly was a fairly new resident, having moved to the Westwood condominium about a year ago with his mother.

Nardone declined to specify the circumstances of the man’s death and determination of homicide while the investigation continued.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Trenton police at 734-676-8377.
