HEIGHTS — Warren Avenue between Telegraph Road and Outer Drive will be under construction through July.
Wayne County will oversee the entire construction project that will include resurfacing, adjusting drainage, repairing bridges and concrete curbs and the installation of sidewalk ramps.
“That stretch of Warren Avenue is in serious need of repair and has been for some time,” said County Commissioner Diane Webb (D-District 8).
Construction is set to begin in mid-April after the County Commission voted 14-0 Feb. 5 to a five-year intergovernmental agreement with the city of Dearborn Heights.
The more than $1.4 million agreement will go toward improving and repaving Warren Avenue. The City Council also approved the agreement on during its Oct. 28 meeting.
The federal government will pay more than $1.2 million via the state Department of Transportation which was approved by the Commission on Aug. 21. The county will pay $163,987 and Dearborn Heights will contribute $92,563.
”My constituents have given me plenty of feedback on that stretch of Warren for a long time,” Webb said. “I’m so pleased that it’s being repaired, I’ve been fighting for it for years.
