DEARBORN – The Dearborn Community Fund presents an evening of fine food and entertainment from 6 to 9 p.m. May 13, where guests will be the “stars” as they dine right in the center of the Michael A. Guido Theater stage at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center.
Individual tickets are $75 and can be purchased by calling the DCF at 313-943-5478. The DCF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, so a portion of the ticket price is tax deductible.
“You Are the Stars!” is a fundraiser to support DCF programs and projects that engage the public and contribute to the vibrancy of the community.
“We’re excited about giving residents and business people the unusual opportunity to dine on stage as they enjoy entertainment and learn more about the work of the Dearborn Community Fund,” DCF Executive Director EmmaJean Woodyard said.
“Guests at ‘You Are the Stars!’ will enjoy a fun evening where, in addition to being treated to a wonderful dinner, live music and light theatrical entertainment, they’ll see the DCF award two grants to other organizations that are doing great work in our community,” Woodyard said.
Sponsorships are available and include special recognition. Table sponsorships including recognition and eight tickets are $1,000, beverage sponsorships including four dinner tickets are $750, and recognition as an event supporter in the printed program is $250.
Money raised at the event will support work of the DCF. Some of the organization’s most recognizable work, which is funded entirely through contributions, includes:
• Funding outdoor sculptures that are placed across the city; hosting writing and art workshops each winter that inspire creativity among fifth-grade students.
• Coordinating the year-long Pockets of Perception program that brings together high school students from across the city to design permanent art that’s installed in public places (such as at City Hall Park and the John D. Dingell Transit Center).
• Partnering with the Dearborn Public Schools to present the Youth In Arts Festival, featuring performances by more than 200 students and launching the city-wide student art show each May.
• Joining the city to host the popular Homecoming festival which enables dozens of nonprofit groups to raise money through food and beverage sales as the public enjoys three days of free entertainment, a carnival, and two nights of fireworks.
