DEARBORN – Padzieski Art Gallery will host upcoming events for May and June, including two paint parties and “Teatime with the Artists” – a talk with students currently exhibited in the Dearborn Public Schools Citywide Art Show.
The gallery is expanding on its popular paint party fundraisers by offering a mini painting class from 6 to 9 p.m. May 29, and this time anyone under 21 accompanied by an adult may participate. This will be followed by a Paint Party Just for Kids June 17 for people ranging from ages 8 to 18.
The Dearborn Community Arts Council’s regular monthly program, “Teatime with the Artists” from 2 to 3 p.m. May 20, will feature several outstanding students whose work is currently on display in the DPS exhibition. This informal art talk with refreshments includes tea and sweets and is free to the public without registration.
The DCAC, along with award-winning artist Janus Benda of the Artists’ Society of Dearborn, will host the mini painting class from 6 to 9 p.m. May 29. Admission is $35. Benda will provide instruction and three different painting subjects appropriate for the season, of varying levels of ease from which to choose.
Everything needed will be provided, including canvases and all painting supplies. Attendees also may enjoy light snacks and refreshments including wine at no additional charge. Anyone under 21 accompanied by an adult may participate. Registration is recommended.
The gallery’s first ever Paint Party Just for Kids, from 6 to 9 p.m. June 17, will give children between the ages of 8 and 18 a chance to get in on the fun. Parents are welcome to oversee, but this paint party will focus on the youngsters.
The $35 admission fee includes art instruction courtesy of DPS teacher Kate Blair and painting subjects appropriate for a younger crowd. All supplies including canvases will be provided as well as music, light snacks and refreshments at no additional charge. Registration is required.
Proceeds from the events support the programs and galleries run by the DCAC.
