LINCOLN PARK – Residents in the 1500 block of Morris were alarmed Wednesday morning when several police cars and the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad investigated reports of a possible explosive.

According to Lincoln Park police, a man called 911 at 7:15 a.m. to report what he believed was a bomb that had been thrown into a white Chevy Impala parked in his driveway.

Police, fire and bomb squad responders arrived to find the man evacuating his and neighboring houses.

Investigators located a large firework that had been duct-taped to a rock that had been thrown through a closed, passenger side window. The device was found on the passenger seat among the broken glass, and was safely taken from the scene. The firework was not lit and did not detonate, police said.

Investigators said that domestic issues may have initiated the incident.
