SOUTHGATE – Police are looking for a man last seen running from a wine store on Dix-Toledo after allegedly attempting to commit an armed robbery.

Public Safety Director Thomas Coombs said a man walked into Wine Town, 13337 Dix-Toledo, about 1:30 p.m. Monday and approached the clerk. The man reportedly demanded cash, and Coombs said an employee saw that he had a black handgun.

After the clerk stalled, the man left without any cash. He was last seen running south on Helen Street. Coombs said officers and K-9 units followed the trail but lost track of the scent somewhere on Helen.

Investigators were reviewing security images.

Coombs said the man had a red mask over the bottom part of his face. He was described as white, between 25 and 30 years old, about 6 feet tall and stocky with brown hair, and was wearing a black shirt and jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call Southgate police at 734-258-3060.
