Free day of outdoor activities for Dearborn area seniors
DEARBORN – Area seniors, aged 50 and over, are invited to attend Autumn Elderfest from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 10 at Ford Field Park, 22051 Cherry Hill.
Hosted by the Senior Services Division of the Dearborn Recreation & Parks Department, Autumn Elderfest features a variety of free activities.
This year’s festival will get underway with a breakfast at 10 a.m., sponsored by Henry Ford Village.
Bingo, sponsored by Howe-Peterson and assisted by Outer Drive Kiwanis, will begin at 10:30 a.m.
At 11 a.m., the following will be available: popcorn, courtesy of Heartland of Dearborn Heights/Allen Park; bottled water, provided by Judge Mark Somers; and Michigan apples, donated by the Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce.
The Fun Walk with Mayor John O’Reilly Jr. starts at 11:30 a.m. It’s preceded by Warm Up Exercises with Angela, sponsored by the DMC, at 11:15 a.m.
Bocce ball and other games, sponsored by Team Rehabilitation Physical Therapy, also begin at 11:30 a.m.
The Mike Wolverton Band, sponsored by Zounds Hearing, will provide musical entertainment, beginning at 11:45 a.m.
Lunch, featuring hot dogs and soft drinks provided by the Exchange Club of Dearborn and Century 21 Curran & Christie, will be served starting at noon.
Lunch will be topped off with ice cream, sponsored by Wayne County Commissioner Gary Woronchak at 12:30 p.m.
The Anniversary Waltz, sponsored by City Councilman Mike Sareini and The Dearborn Inn, will get underway at 1 p.m.
Apple Cider doughnuts, courtesy of Assurant Care LLC, will be available, beginning at 1:15 p.m.
Autumn Elderfest will wrap up at 2:15 p.m. with a raffle, sponsored by state Rep. George Darany.
