A 64-year-old Trenton man died Oct. 9 after sustaining what were described as non-life-threatening injuries in a car crash in Riverview Oct. 8.

His cause of death is still unknown, police said.

According to the police report, the man was heading south on Fort Street just north of Sibley at 35 mph in a Chevy Impala at 8:42 a.m. when he ran into a Ford Escape driven by a 48-year-old Wyandotte woman who was stopped at a traffic light. Police said the Impala veered off the road and hit a one way traffic sign.

Both drivers were taken to Beaumont Hospital-Trenton for treatment. The man later died at the hospital.

“The event is still under investigation and we are waiting for the official results from the Wayne County Medical Examiner,” Riverview Police and Fire Chief Clifford Rosebohm said.
