TAYLOR – This time they know what to expect.

While Taylor couple James and Tina Whitehead expected to join their four children for a late Thanksgiving Day meal, they planned to spend most of Thursday at Southland Center on Eureka Road. Anxious for the 5 p.m. opening on Thursday at Best Buy for pre-Black Friday holiday sales, the couple pitched a tent early Wednesday morning in anticipation of scoring bargains on electronics.

“We’re here for the sales,” said Tina, whose list included both gifts and perks for the home, including an advertised 50-inch TV and a laptop computer.

James said their children paid visits while enjoying pre-holiday time with grandparents.

After a week that began with the season’s first snowfall, James said the weather was kind Wednesday when the couple and a friend pitched adjoining tents just outside the Best Buy doors.

The electronics store was among the Southland Center shops that opened doors on Thursday evening for early Black Friday deals.

Holiday events at the mall throughout December include visits from Santa Claus. For a full directory and hours go to www.southlandcenter.com.
