DEARBORN – The Dearborn Community Chorus and Vanguard Voices will present the Dearborn Holiday Choral Festival at 7 p.m. Dec. 12, at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave.

Dearborn Community Chorus, directed by Marcus LaPratt, will perform songs of the season including “The Very Best Time of Year” (Rutter), “Three Jazzy Bell Carols” (Rouse), and “Hallelujah” from “Handel’s Messiah: A Soulful Celebration.”

Vanguard Voices, directed by G. Kevin Dewey, will present Christmas choral classics including “O Magnum Mysterium” (Victoria), “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming” (Praetorius), and “In Dulci Jubilo” (Pearsall).

The combined choirs, joined by harpist Sylvia LaPratt, will perform Benjamin Britten’s “A Ceremony of Carols,” a 20th-century work set to texts from the 14th through 16th centuries.

Cherry Hill Consort, a recorder ensemble, will perform in the lobby from 6:15 to 6:45 p.m.  Audience members also are invited to a cider and cookies reception immediately following the concert.

Reserved tickets, priced at $18, $15, $11, and $6 (student) are available at the Ford Center box office, which is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Tickets also are available by calling 313-943-2354 or going to www.dearborntheater.com.

Dearborn Community Chorus and Vanguard Voices are sponsored by the Dearborn Recreation & Parks Department. The Holiday Choral Festival receives support from the Dearborn Community Fund.
