SOUTHGATE – A jury trial has been set for a Southgate man accused of murdering a woman and her 10-year-old son.

Antoine Terrail Beck, 33, was charged with two counts of first-degree homicide following the June murders of Courtney Marie Durr, 28, and her son, Sumari Keon Das Beck. During a calendar conference on Nov. 20, Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Cameron said jury selection will begin on Feb. 22, 2016.

Police and prosecutors said Beck was living in Durr’s La Collonade apartment – in the 14500 block of North Line Road – and likely killed the woman and boy a day or two before relatives discovered them on June 7. Durr’s throat was slashed and the child was strangled to death.

Beck also was charged with larceny and vehicle theft, having allegedly stolen cash and driven away in Durr’s car.

Beck previously served 10 years in prison for unarmed robbery and is charged as a habitual offender. If convicted of first-degree homicide he faces a potential sentence of life in prison without possibility of parole.
