ALLEN PARK — A 31-year-old Dearborn man is set for trial on Feb. 17 in Wayne County Circuit Court on charges of armed robbery and bank robbery following his pretrial examination Friday.

Christopher Szuch stood mute during his Nov. 23 arraignment and Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Shannon Walker entered a not guilty plea for him. He remains jailed on a $50,000 10 percent cash bond.

Szuch allegedly robbed Zeal Credit Union, 7240 Park Ave., Nov. 6. He reportedly handed a teller a note saying, “I have a gun, give me the cash.”
Szuch fled on foot with more than $5,750, police said. Police recovered most of the money.

Detective Jeffery Miller said officers were aided by a K-9 in searching for the suspect, to no avail. Yet, using social media, they had the suspected robber identified and arrested within hours.

Miller said police received numerous tips after posting a picture of the suspect from the credit union’s video surveillance.
