Open call for juried photo exhibit at Padzieski Gallery

December 27, 2015 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

DEARBORN — The Dearborn Community Arts Council will host the 21st Annual Juried Photography Exhibition Jan. 14 to Feb. 12 at the Padzieski Art Gallery in the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave.

The exhibit will kick off with an Opening Party from 7 to 8 p.m. Jan. 14.

The DCAC invites photographers — both amateur and advanced — to participate in the exhibit’s three categories: color, black and white, and digitally altered.

Applications — including entry fees, deadlines and other details — are available on the DCAC website (www.dcacarts.org) with an option to pay online through PayPal. Interested photographers also may send requests for information to DCAC Director Ralph Valdez at [email protected]

The DCAC has enlisted two area award-winning photographers — Sylvia Ford and Jonathan Warren — to judge the exhibition.

Ford’s work has been shown throughout the United States and Japan. As the official photographer for People Dancing and Dancers Company of Ann Arbor, Ford earned her certification from the New York Institute of Photography, and has been judging competitions in Ohio and Michigan since 2013.

Warren has been a Dearborn-based fine art photographer for more than 35 years, recognized and awarded as a past winner of this exhibition, among others. He also is a Scarab Club photography medal winner and past president of the Livonia Camera Club, part of the Greater Detroit Camera Club Council.

This competition attracts photographers and art lovers from all over as they’re presented with an opportunity to share their work in a gallery, win cash prizes, and sell and purchase one-of-a-kind limited edition photography.

For more information, call 313 943-3095 or go to dcacarts.org.
