DEARBORN — The Police Department issued a warning to residents about a fake report posted on the website primates.info claiming 13 people were killed.

The fake article claiming 13 deaths and 24 wounded during a shooting in Dearborn began spreading on Facebook Dec. 30.

The website also had a similar article and photo stating the same incident occurred in other cities including Flint.

The Police Department posted a statement on its Facebook page at 7 a.m. Dec. 31 telling residents that the article was a hoax.

“There is a fake website link that has been making the rounds on Facebook, with the headline of ‘13 killed and 24 wounded in Dearborn,’ the post read. “This site targets not only Dearborn, but other cities as well with the same storyline. Please know that this story is entirely fictional and has no foundation in reality.”
