Dispute at Play Atlantis leaves to one dead

MELVINDALE – A dispute between people at separate parties at Play Atlantis yesterday evening resulted in a 45-year-old man being shot in the head and killed.

The shooter escaped. No arrests had been made as of publication.

Police said a man left the amusement facility, 19400 Allen Road, about 7 p.m. and returned with a gun, allegedly shooting and killing the 45-year-old man.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was attending a party for a 1-year-old. The shooter was attending another party.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

A manager at the facility declined to comment, and deferred all questions to the Police Department.

The alleged shooter was described as a black male in his mid 20s, 5 feet 9 tall and weighing between 170 and 190 pounds.

Police are asking anyone with information on the killing to call the department at 313-429-1070.
