Second Chance denied first chance

March 6, 2016 By Times-Herald Newspapers Leave a Comment

WYANDOTTE – City Council denied the non-profit Second Chance Network its permit request to hold an intersection fundraiser from March 23 to 26.

The organization sought to collect donations at various intersections in the city. Councilmen Leonard Sabuda, Daniel Galeski, Ted Miciura Jr., Donald Schultz and Kevin VanBoxell shot-down the proposal.

Councilwoman Sheri Sutherby-Fricke was excused from the meeting.

Members agreed the charity needs to complete the Hold Harmless Agreement with the city clerk prior to the start of the drive. The agreement is a legally-binding contract releasing one or more parties from legal liability. The contract helps prevent one party from suing another for expenses, damages or losses.

Second Chance Network representatives were not available for comment at presstime.
